SKITSO is a creative workshop based in Thessaloniki, Greece dedicated to handcrafting decorative art. Using natural materials like wood, fabric, and paper, we create functional art designed to add inspiration to any space. Our signature collection, Little Girls, turns lighting into an expression of individuality and uniqueness.

It all began four decades ago, when materials like wood, ceramic, fabric, metal, and paper were used to create the first handcrafted pieces—puppets known for their distinctive character and theatrical designs. This marked the beginning of a long journey until today.

Today, in our modern workshop, we remain grounded in our origins, continuously inspired and attentive to every detail. Each piece is thoughtfully designed and handcrafted, bearing the signature of SKITSO. With every creation, we aim to brighten spaces around the world, staying true to the craftsmanship that defines us.

Luminous Botanica Collection

In 2025, SKITSO introduced the Luminous Botanica collection, featuring pendant lights shaped like delicate flowers. This new line blends floral aesthetics with our signature craftsmanship, offering a fresh and vibrant take on our handcrafted lighting designs.

Celebrating Handcrafted Inspiration

In celebration of our 40th anniversary, we paid tribute to wood, infusing new life into our signature collections. Focusing on beechwood, we created a series of elegant, timeless pieces that honor the natural beauty and craftsmanship of this material, continuing our tradition of handcrafted artistry.

XL Version of the Little Girl Collection

We introduced the XL version of the Little Girl collection, creating larger, more striking pieces that retained the charm and character of the original designs.

The Little Girl Collection

The Little Girl collection quickly became SKITSO’s most recognizable and successful line, establishing the brand in new markets and expanding its reach. A few years later, the Blooming Girls were introduced, adding a new dimension to the collection’s charm.

The Wooden Ladies Collection

The Wooden Ladies collection followed the Ballerinas, paving the way for the Little Girls. These standing lamps are shaped like ladies holding umbrellas, with their dresses painted directly onto the wood, capturing movement within their static form. This collection laid the groundwork for the next step—creating table lamps using fabrics.

The Ballerinas collection marked a turning point for SKITSO, introducing wood as the primary material in our lighting designs. Shaped like graceful dancers, these lamps brought elegance and movement into any space, further defining our artistic vision.

The Papier-Mâché Standing Lamps

Soon after, the next steps were taken with the launch of the Papier-Mâché Standing Lamps, marking a new chapter for SKITSO. Reminiscent of a contemporary version of the masterly Cycladic sculptures, the papier-mâché standing lights collection features well-dressed gangly figured sculptures wearing distinctive hats. These hand-painted figures with their large, handcrafted hats, entirely made from paper using the well-known papier-mâché technique, add a touch of character and creativity to any space.

First Lamp Designs

Our first lamps began as decorative paper objects infused with light, a concept that soon evolved into the Papier-Mâché collections. This marked the beginning of SKITSO’s signature approach to lighting design, blending artistry with functionality.

Expanding with New Collections

As SKITSO evolved, we expanded our handcrafted offerings to include ceramic piggy banks, paper air balloons, and wooden furniture. Each piece embodied our commitment to creativity and artistic expression, further shaping the brand’s identity.

From Puppets to Lamps

While crafting puppets, we experimented with integrating one design into a light source. This simple idea sparked a new creative direction—leading to the design of our first lamps and transforming SKITSO’s artistic journey.

In 1986, within the small workshop behind our retail store, SKITSO began crafting puppets—both as decorative pieces and for theatrical performances. These unique creations soon took us beyond Thessaloniki, leading to our first trade show appearances in Milan, Nuremberg, and Paris. This marked SKITSO’s debut on the international stage, setting the foundation for our journey in handcrafted artistry.

The Birth of SKITSO – Our Retail Store

SKITSO came to life with the opening of our first retail store on Grigoriou Palama Street in Thessaloniki, featuring a small workshop at the back. From the very beginning, the space offered a carefully curated selection of SKITSO’s own handcrafted creations alongside decorative items and gifts from global brands.

To this day, our store remains the heart of SKITSO, a place where past and present collections come together in a warm, inviting atmosphere. With wood as the focal element, the space reflects the cozy aesthetics and artisanal spirit that define our brand.
